Youth Ministry Report from Pastor Kevin
On Sunday, September 15, Covenant Youth kicked-off the school year with their first youth group gathering. Fourteen youth gathered for free play, dinner, group games, worship, a message, and small groups.
Using the folding tables recently removed from the storage unit, we created an indoor Gaga Pit. Gaga Ball is a
little like wall ball and dodge ball where the students nimbly try to hit the ball into another student below the
waist without being hit themselves. For group play, each student received a post-it note on their back of someone
who is a part of a famous pair. They had to ask questions to figure out who they were and then find their partner.
Worship this week included the songs “Greater” by Mercy Me, “Nobody” by Casting Crowns, and “Good Good
Father” by Chris Tomlin. After worship, Pastor Kevin gave a message about figuring out our true identity.
Students learned that it is not about who we are or about what we have done; instead, it is about whose we are.
We figure that out by seeking God in His word, dwelling in Christian community, and sharing our story. After the
message, we broke out into small groups to dive deeper and build relationships.
I am grateful to Tom and Michelle Hiscott for making the dinner arrangements by providing pizza and dessert.
I am also thankful to Kathy Atkinson for serving as our girls' small group leader. If you are looking for ways to
support the ministry, we need people who might consider taking on the dinner and dessert preparations for a
particular week. We are looking for more adults to help go around the room during the free play. These people
will provide some chaperone guidance, build relationships with the kids, and help make sure no one is feeling left
out. We also have several events coming up where we could use adults willing to drive, chaperone, and lead. To
