Home for Christmas: Hope
Greetings, Covenant Church Community!
This Sunday marks the beginning of the church year, Advent. Partly, I feel like we should already be halfway into December, and the other part wonders how we are even in December at all! This Sunday we are starting our Advent series called "Home for Christmas." Inspired by a book of the same name by Justin Coleman, we will explore the first theme: Hope.
There seem to be so many things that are happening in the world that try to rob us of the hope we have, how do we keep hope not only alive but also help it thrive in the world today? We sing in one of our beloved Christmas hymns about "the thrill of hope."* Our hope in Christ should be thrilling. It should help us stand up to the darkness and shine the light, it should help us stand up to the darkness and speak love, it should help us stand up to the darkness and live in joy, and finally to stand in the midst of darkness and feel peace.
This Sunday morning, I hope you will join us at Covenant church at either 8:15 or 10:45 as we explore this hope that we have been given, how it can be bolstered within us, and how we as a community can together bolster the hope of others.
See you there!
