ASP Coronavirus Update
April 7, 2020 coronavirus update from Walter Crouch, President and CEO of the Appalachia Service Project:
To the ASP family of volunteers and supporters,
Our thoughts and prayers have been with you these last few weeks. We are in the midst of a time unlike any we have experienced before. The COVID-19 crisis is continuing to evolve quickly, and while we are all working to “flatten the curve,” it has become clear that our world will be continuing to fight this pandemic for the months to come. At this time, based on recommendations from national health officials, ASP has made the difficult decision to suspend our summer volunteer hosting until August 1, 2020.
Please see our CEO's complete statement here.
Unfortunately, this means that the Covenant ASP team will not be conducting our yearly mission trip to Central Appalachia this summer. Our participation in ASP has always been about service, so we will continue to serve and love our neighbors (near and far) by doing what we can to keep everyone healthy (that means staying away). The ASP team will continue fundraisers as feasible, including the plant sale. In the meantime, the ASP team will be considering other ways to support ASP and looking for other ways to be in mission this summer. More soon...
Please keep calm, keep your distance, and keep safe.
Peace & Blessings
