Our school is a Christian Nursery School, a ministry of Covenant United Methodist Church. We welcome children of all faiths and encourage a sharing of different beliefs. Just as the rainbow is God's sign of His love for us, our symbol is also the rainbow, showing our love for all children. Through our daily interactions with the children we strive to exemplify the Christian virtues of kindness, acceptance, and love towards one another.
Our building is connected to the sanctuary and is easily accessible from Saxer Avenue or our parking lot at the rear of the building. We are most concerned that our children are safe at all times, and therefore, participate in fire drills, keep doors locked, and have staff trained in First Aid.
Our building is well equipped with age-appropriate furniture, house centers, blocks, easels, books, manipulatives, and much more. We have an outside playground with a large mulched area, a sandbox and playground equipment.
Our primary purpose is to provide a happy group experience for our children. We are concerned with the total development of our children, and provide stimulating and challenging activities to help them grow emotionally, socially, mentally, and physically.
We believe that playtime is most important, because children learn through play, in both directed and non-directed activities. As stated in Pre-K Today, "Play is the work of childhood, worthy of respect and encouragement. It is the way children process what they perceive. It is how they discover for themselves what no one can teach them. Children at play are busy people, involved and active, making the world theirs: building up, knocking down, making happen; exploring, finding out, making sense of understanding; wondering, imagining, and creating!"
We believe that observing children on a daily basis along with personal conferences with parents concerning their child's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development is the best way to understand each child’s stage of development. We adapt our program yearly to meet the developmental needs of the children and the changes in our world.

Dawn Hanrahan became director of Covenant Nursery School in 2010 after over a decade working as one of our teachers. Not only does she have a solid background in early childhood education, but she and her husband also have three children of their own who provide on-the-job experience in parenting.
The success of any program is the responsibility of the people who create and run it. At Covenant, we are proud to have an educational staff of trained professionals with many years of experience. All are capable of developing appropriate curriculum and successfully carrying out that curriculum in a classroom setting.
Nursery School classes are held from 9:10-11:40 for 3 year olds and 9:20-11:50 for 4 year olds. PM classes are held from 12:30-3:00. Optional Lunch Bunch Sessions (extended afternoons) are offered three days a week beginning in October. An additional fee is required for these sessions.
The registration fee is a $60.00 non-refundable fee that ensures your child's placement in Covenant Nursery School. A letter is sent home over the summer confirming your child's placement and class assignment.
You can make payments for registration and tuition by sending a check to Covenant Nursery School, or online with a credit card or electronic check.
