Confirmation Class

posted:
October 31, 2017

Confirmation in the United Methodist Church is a time of intentional preparation giving teens the opportunity to learn the basic tenants of our faith and how to live them out. Confirmation classes work best when youth can go through this process with other youth and have experiences that help their faith come alive. With that in mind, and through conversations with the pastors of Drexel Hill UMC, Clifton UMC, and Union UMC, Havertown, we are planning a combined confirmation program. The program will have an online learning component to complete at home during the week. There will be monthly in-person gatherings to live out the faith through relationship building, special speakers, mission activities, etc. The program will take place over three semesters: a "Hebrew Bible" unit (spring 2018), a "New Testament" unit (fall 2018), and a "Church Doctrine and History" (spring 2019). There will be field trips, a retreat in each spring, and group participation in the middle school mission trip in Yardley, PA. We are having a combined Confirmand/Parent info night on Tuesday, November 14 at 7 p.m. in Wesley Hall. The program will start the week of January 7, 2018.
