Cooperative Ministry

September 26, 2017

Covenant United Methodist Church has been moving toward more cooperative relationships with some of our sister United Methodist congregations.

C.C. Hancock and Covenant

Covenant and C.C. Hancock have been working together on a number of fronts. We have supported Hancock in the celebration of their 60th Anniversary, held joint picnics, celebrated the appointment of Brenda Del Rosario as Associate Pastor at Hancock, and engaged in pulpit exchanges between associate pastors.

Our next joint ventures include the Senior Pastor Pulpit Exchange on October 15 and a gathering on December 10 at Hancock for lunch before both churches set out for Caroling to some folks who would like to hear some Christmas carols and enjoy a visit. Mark your calendar, plan to spread the spirit of the season with fellow United Methodists from Springfield.

Grab, Gather, Grow

In January, six United Methodist Churches will join forces to offer a five-week sermon series as we kick off a new opportunity for small groups known as “Grab, Gather, Grow.” The sermons and small groups will be based on the book, “Living the Five,” by Jim and Jennifer Cowert and will focus on five basic principles for living out the Great Commission and the Great Commandments.

Everyone is invited to form a small group of their own. Invite friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, or anyone else you wish. If you are willing to invite a group we will provide a book and DVD so you can easily guide the discussion. It’s a simple process:

  1. Grab the material
  2. Gather the group
  3. Grow spiritually through your interactions.

All you need to do is provide space and maybe a simple snack and you will help your invitees to grow in faith.

The participating churches include C.C. Hancock, Clifton Heights, Drexel Hill, St. Marks (Broomall), Swarthmore, and Covenant.

Who will you invite to your small group?
