Children's Sunday School - Transitions & Opportunities

posted:
August 29, 2017

A lot has been going on to transform the Old Testament and Middler Sunday School rooms into a dedicated children's ministry area for Sunday mornings. We hope to use decorations to tie the space into the lessons. Having the dedicated space will be good.

I believe that having more loving adults volunteer with children helps to keep children engaged with the church and with Christ. We are transitioning our Sunday School ministry into a large group/small group type ministry with dedicated small group leaders building relationships with a few children. I would like to keep my small group leaders focused on that task. That creates volunteer opportunities for others on a short term (2-4 week) commitment to help teach and lead the large group time. Large group leaders will introduce the lesson, lead the music, and teach the bible story; small group leaders will incorporate the lesson into games and conversation to help the children learn to live out the lesson.

If you are interested in passing the Christian faith onto the next generation in a fun and exciting way, but cannot commit to every Sunday, these short term opportunities may be perfect for you. Keeping children excited and engaged in learning how much Jesus loves them is key to a life-long faith. The work we do during these formative years will shape the children and youth ministries of Covenant for a long time to come. I can't do it alone, and while I do have a few great volunteers, we all need your help for this key work God has set before us. I pray that you will consider serving. Contact me if you are interested in serving and I will help walk you through what to expect, your serving preferences, and any of the background checks and training required by state law.
