ASP 2018 is coming! Want to go? Find out more!

Covenant UMC is gearing up for our 37th year in mission with the Appalachia Service Project (ASP).  We have chosen to accept our mission and to accept people just the way they are.

We want you to accept our invitation!

We can't do what we do without you, so we're inviting you to join us for ASP 2018!

Wait. What's ASP?

Here's one answer: "Volunteer for a week with ASP and you'll come back a different person."

The Appalachia Service Project is a Christian ministry, open to all people, whose vision is to eradicate substandard housing in Central Appalachia and equip and inspire lives of Christian service.

Okay. So what's that really mean?

Go with us for one week next summer and you'll gain new skills, new friends, and whole new confidence in yourself. Best of all, you'll have a deeper, stronger faith in God. You see, every summer more than 15,000 high-school-age and adult volunteers go to Central Appalachia to make homes warmer, safer, and drier for families very much in need. You'll work alongside your friends to lay shingles, replace linoleum, fix foundations, and so much more. Even if you've never even swung a hammer before, don't worry — experience is not required — we'll show you everything you need to know. ASP is not just about building — it's about relationships. You'll have fun, share meals, forge friendships, and learn lessons that will impact you for the rest of your life. In other words, you'll come back a whole new you!

Great! What can I do?

We will do our part of the 2018 ASP summer mission during a week in early July.  Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to take a week of your summer and give it to others, getting a whole lot more in return.  We would love to have you join us. Really — it's a blast.

Or, even if you can't join us for the trip, we always need help for our fundraisers and team events. We always appreciate some extra help and support.

All you have to do is join us for an ASP information session on Sunday, October 1st, at 7:00 p.m. in Wesley Hall. Attending does not mean you are obligated to go on the mission trip - it's just to learn about ASP.  To find out more, contact Greg Corner at greg.corner@covumc.com, or check out the ASP page.
