Our Gifts Made a Difference

January 26, 2017

Reverend Bill Wolfe of St. Philip’s United Methodist Church in Philadelphia sent the following message to the Covenant congregation in response to the White Tag gifts given to the children in their after-school program.

“On behalf of the students of St. Philip’s out of school time program, I would like to thank your church family for the generous number of toys, dolls, and games provided for our children. Without your help many of our students would not experience the Joy of Christmas. We were able to give each child a full bag of gifts – all children left knowing they were not forgotten.

“May your new year be filled with peace, joy, and all of God’s blessings.”

Joanne Castagna, Director of Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Prospect Park shared this letter:

“On behalf of the client families and the volunteers of Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, we want to thank all of you for your great generosity towards the Pantry. Your donations last year totaled 1,815.5 pounds of food which included hams and turkeys, plus a great amount of personal care items, baby items, school supplies and school bags. Your ongoing generosity is so thoughtful and needed.

“As food prices and the cost of living continue to grow, so will our pantry as we do our best to meet expanding need. Your continued support is deeply appreciated for helping us meet our clients’ needs throughout the year. Thank you for seeing their need and being so generous in helping them. What you have done has had a profound effect upon our clients’ lives.

“We are deeply grateful.”

We received the following note from Leanne Robert, the Shelter Administrator at The Life Center of Eastern Delaware County in Upper Darby, in response to Covenant’s participation in the meal program and the Blessings Bags filled with personal care items and a devotional guide which were delivered in December.

“Thanks to your kindness and generosity we are able to provide our Shower Program, Meal Program, as well as the daily and necessary essentials for our residents. It is kindhearted people like you who help others in their time of need. Without you, we would not be able to provide for our clients or the community.”
