Regarding: Patan Hospital Ramp

Dear Pastor Bob,

Greetings from Nepal! This letter is to bring you up-to-date on the progress on our ramp. By this time you will have wondered if it is ever going to be done.

As I outlined for you in our August 2002 letter, we were slowed down by the evaluation that the ramp would require more money to stabilize the stairwell and make it earthquake resistant. We were able to secure another $12,000 through donations and have now made a contract with the local builder Himal Hydro to construct the ramp. As you will see by the enclosed photographs, the ground has been broken. I hope that by the time we come and visit Covenant that we will be able to show you photographs of the ramp going up into the sky.

Please pass on our thanks to the many faithful there at Covenant United Methodist. We look forward to seeing all of you sometime in February or March. We are still unsure if we are going to get permission to come back to Nepal or not, but are praying to the very end.

Faithfully yours,

Mark D. Zimmerman, MD
Medical Director
