Irish Concert by Jacqueline Dunleavy

Springfield native Jacqueline Dunleavy will present an all-Irish concert on Friday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m.  She will be accompanied by Samantha Wittchen (harp) and Dawn Stevens (piano).

The program will include traditional Irish ballads, such as The Last Rose of Summer and Danny Boy, rousing Irish folk songs, and songs that explore the heritage of Irish writers and poets with selections from 20th Century composers such as Samuel Barber and Roger Quilter.

Ms. Dunleavy performs extensively in the Philadelphia area. Jacqueline has performed with the Lansdowne Symphony, the Main Line Symphony, and the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra; as a professional chorister, with the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New Jersey Symphony, and the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. As an ensemble performer, she has sung in concert with Rod Stewart, Denyce Graves and Patti Labelle, and has worked with conductors Sir Simon Rattle, Lorin Maazel, Charles Dutoit and Christoph Eschenbach. She is a professional member of the Philadelphia Singers and Chorale, a roster member of the Opera Company of Philadelphia, and a founding member of the Children’s Opera Box, which brings shortened versions of opera to area schools. Ms. Dunleavy is a graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, and is a cantor and professional member of the Cathedral Schola at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia.

Tickets, at $10 each, may be purchased in Wesley Hall on Sundays, March 4 and 11, as well as at the door the evening of the concert. Doors will open at 7 p.m. For more information, call the church office.  Proceeds will benefit Covenant’s missions and programs.
